A New Kind of Learning Is Coming to Our Community

Meet the Resonance Lab

By By: Jessica Steele January 28, 2026

A new, wellness-centered microschool is preparing to open its doors right here in our community, and it’s designed with the whole child in mind.

The Resonance Lab is part of a growing movement of microschools—small, intentional learning communities that blend academic rigor with personalized, flexible, and relationship-rich education. Unlike traditional schools with large classes and rigid schedules, microschools typically serve smaller groups of students (often under 25), emphasize individualized learning, and allow teachers and families to co-design education that meets each child’s needs and strengths.

Across the U.S., the microschool movement has expanded rapidly in recent years as families seek alternatives to one-size-fits-all schooling. By mid-2025, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million students were enrolled in microschools either full-time or part-time.  Some models operate under homeschool or private school laws, while others partner with charter or voucher programs depending on state regulations.

What sets microschools apart is how they reimagine the learning environment—with multi-age groupings, project-based work, deep relationship building, flexible pacing, and a focus on both academic and social-emotional growth. Family engagement tends to be strong, and educational leaders increasingly see microschooling as part of a broader shift in how parents and educators think about school choice and personalized learning.

At The Resonance Lab, learning blends:

  • Strengths-based academics grounded in meaningful content
  • Daily movement and nature-based, exploratory learning to support regulation and energy
  • Mindfulness and emotional growth practices
  • Creative expression and project-based learning
  • Leadership development and self-reflection skills

The goal is not just academic growth, but a confident, curious, and resilient learner—someone prepared for the challenges of a changing world.

Microschooling is more than a trend — it’s a response to parents, teachers, and communities seeking education that adapts to the child rather than forcing the child to adapt to the system. As education trends continue into 2026, more families are exploring flexible models that prioritize personalization without losing academic depth.

If you’re a parent exploring educational options that support both your child’s mind and nervous system, The Resonance Lab may be a beautiful fit.

The Resonance Lab will be located at the Blue Ash YMCA, serving its first cohort of students in grades K-5. Enrollment is now open. Spaces are intentionally limited to preserve the integrity of the learning environment.
